Do you love summer? Even just the word ‘summer’ makes me feel happy. The expectation of gorgeous warm days spent having fun with family and friends is enough to see me cope with our freezing winters.

Summer seems to be the time when so many memories are made and often have a nostalgic twist, either remembering past summers or preparing ourselves for changes which are coming in the second half of the year.

This year, we have a couple of family milestones. At the start of summer we move to France and at the end Ava will be starting school. I’m not sure I’m particularly ready for either, but I know one thing for sure, both milestones are going to happen whether I’m ready or not!

So this summer will be very special for us all. I’m fully prepared that as a family we will have to support each other through the adjustments we will need to make. I also know that we need to cherish our summer more than ever before, as after summer things will never be the same again. Ava will be away from me more than she ever has been and faster than I’d like she will start to grow up even more.

When I remember my childhood summers, I think back to playing in the river at a friends family farm, riding horses and I can almost still feel the heat on my skin. This year we are going to do as much memory making as we can, which for me ALWAYS includes snapping away on my camera. Preserving every little memory that I can.
