How To Make Pretty Perfect Party Bags

For Baby’s first birthday we threw her a party.  I really loved the party bags I created, so I thought I would share them with you all.  We had an Alice in Wonderland themed party, so I thought the doily’s worked with the whole tea party vibe.  This was my first foray into the world of party bags.  Despite my lack of experience, I know what I like.  Also I would only give people things, that I would be happy to receive for Baby.  So a bit of thought was needed to get the balance right-  the aim a lovely party bag that doesn’t cost the earth!

First things first, I got the bags ready.

For this you will need;

Brown Bags – I bought lunch/takeaway style bags from Ebay (25 were under £3)

Paper Doily’s – 60 for a pound!

Spray mount – £5.99 from WH Smiths (but it was 2 for 1)

Playing cards – 3 packs for £1 in Poundland

How to make?

• Easy peasy!  Just spray the doily to the front and overlap at the edge a little (depending on your bag/doily size).

• From a playing card I cut the first letter of each child’s name, ensuring the back of the card was the front of the letter.  Spray mount onto doily.

• Attach a brown kraft type tag to the handle with ‘Take Me’ written on one side and the child’s name on the other.

• Done, pretty and unique bags.

The goodies

Then I had to try to work out what to put in them.  I must admit this gave me a bit of a headache.  I think I over thought it!  I wanted them to include lovely things, but obviously there is a budget and it is best not to get carried away.  A friend tipped me off about some books that were being sold in a set.  They were perfect, little sturdy cardboard type books of nursery rhymes, in a set of 10.  A great addition to 10 party bags!  I then added some bubbles and a bath toy (also bought as packs and divided).

A trip to the supermarket got me a lovely little haul of wooden toys,  some maracas, music sticks, wooden books and wooden worms.  Each bag had a gingerbread (baby recipe) rabbit (keeping in with the theme) with the child’s initial iced on the front and popped in a cellophane bag (cellophane bags purchased from Ebay).  I added a little Baby’s Bakery sticker to the back.  I added a few hair clip’s for the little girls and I had cake boxes ready to go with the bags at the end of the party.  Baby had a Tattie Teddy instead of the other goodies in her bag.  I am really happy with how they turned out and they children seemed pleased with them!
