Last week we went on holiday to Cornwall and we stayed at The Valley, near Truro, Cornwall. I will be popping up a review of The Valley a little later in the week, but I wanted to share our holiday with you and some of the things we got up to.
As Mr Hubby had been in France the entire week before we went I didn’t have any time to get ahead with my work, meaning that I needed to work everyday at some point. I did a little in the mornings and then the rest when Baby was in bed, leaving most of the days free. That is reality; owning your own business means sometimes you have just got to work!
Once we were settled in, we decided to try out the onsite indoor pool. Mr Hubby can’t swim and has never been swimming with us but he decided to come, which was amazing. Every day of our holiday just before Baby’s dinner time we spent some time in the pool. She hasn’t been swimming for around a year and was a little apprehensive when we first got it, but before too long she was jumping in off the side as she used to when she had lessons. She was the winner of many across the pool races with her daddy and I. It was so wonderful to spent time with my little family, having fun and messing around. I can’t remember the last time we were all so happy doing an activity together. We just need a pool at home now!

On the first full day of our holiday we went to Newquay Zoo. This trip had kindly been arranged by Peugeot, as we had the pleasure of reviewing a fantastic Peugeot 5008 for the week. It made packing all our stuff much easier than normal. The zoo was great; very pretty for a site which is surrounded by housing. Baby and I fell in love with a little white goat and wanted to bring him home.

From the zoo we decided to ahead to the Cider farm, which was high on Mr Hubby’s to do list! On the way we found the Bowgie Inn, which boasted the most beautiful views, so decided to have lunch there.

With full bellies we made it to the Cider farm. While Mr Hubby did a little shopping, Baby and I went to look at the animals. It was such a pretty place and we enjoyed meeting Duchess the Shire horse (she makes a guest appearance in our video!).

We had done some research on good beaches in the area and the following day headed to Godrevy beach. Maintained by the National Trust and with a fabulous cafe onsite it was a spectacular beach. The walk down to the sand was very unusual and pretty, if very stony. It was a bit windy and unfortunately as soon as we got to the sand Baby let go of her frisbee, which took off down the beech over a stream area before getting lodged on some rocks. Cue Baby crying hysterically and Mr Hubby having to scale rocks and dodge sinking sand to get it back for her.

Bless her little heart, after her football nearly went the same way as the frisbee, she was petrified that all of our stuff, including my camera, would blow away! She cried and cried, just wouldn’t settle down, she was so worried. Eventually with the help of Mr Hubby asking for sand castle building guidance she settled enough to build a few sand castles and fill up the moat with water. However, it wasn’t too long before she wanted to go back home; before heading back we popped into the lovely cafe for a drink to warm up.

On the way back to The Valley we stopped at the Halzephron Inn, which had lush sea views and a fab little toy area by the tables, which kept Baby occupied.

On our last day we made the 45 minute journey to The Lost Gardens of Helligan. I had seen some pictures from people who had been there and it looked spectacular. Baby loved all the little climbing areas dotted along the route. These gardens are vast and we weren’t quite prepared for the amount of walking that would be involved. Good job we had had a good brunch before we set off! The restaurant was lovely and the cream tea even lovelier! Mr Hubby opted for a full English.

I love my little crazy! She didn’t want to take her headband off when we told her she needed to wear a hat, so she put on both and styled it out!

Bearing in mind I have back problems and Baby has very small legs, I think we were quite optimistic thinking we could walk round the whole site. It was such a beautiful collection of different gardens, one of my favourites being The Jungle. Wooden walk ways took us through the bamboo and tropical plants. The mud sculptures were phenomenal too!

The gardens were so well cared for and it was such an incredible place to spend the day. Baby was understandably tired and got a little whingy at times; poor Mr Hubby ended up carrying her a lot of the way!

Even though I had to work, we had such a lovely holiday. I was apologising to Mr Hubby about it one night and his response was for me not to be silly, as without blogging we wouldn’t have even been there. He makes a good a point!
Here is a video we made of our holiday.
It was so wonderful to spend such quality time with each other and I am so grateful that we got the opportunity.

Looks like such a lovely break. I usually work on our UK breaks too but I don’t mind – we still have a fab time.
Cornwall is on our bucket list, I travelled there as a child and absolutely loved it. It just seems SOOOOOO far away from our home in Northumberland though. One day……
It looks like you had such a wonderful holiday. I absolutely love Cornwall and would visit every year if I could x
What stunningly beautiful photos, I especially love the very first one. It looks like you had lovely weather as well, the sky is so blue and Baby looks so happy. I love Cornwall, I have such fond memories of holidays down there as a child- it really is one of the most beautiful places in the UK i think. I would love to live down there, except it is in the middle of nowhere and I think I would miss a big city! xx
Cornwall is so beautiful, it looks like a wonderful holiday and gorgeous photos. My eldest is similar to baby as she is always afraid everything will blow away! X
